"Desserted Island"
This project was done for the Mechanical Prototyping Engineering Course at Olin College. The goal of the project was to implement the design skills learned in the course with a purely mechanical sculpture made of all the structures, joints, gears, cams, linkages and more taught in the course. The sculpture was manufactured using a 3D printer, a ShopBot, mill machine, and lathe machine, and other manufacturing tools. With the main theme of the ocean in mind, the final product was a sculpture of a running man stranded on a dessert island made from rock candy and surrounded by vicious ABS plastic sharks.
